Additional Teaching Fields

When we hire a professor, we identify a teachingfield, and we document the professor’s SACS qualification to teaching in that field. Additional teaching fields require documentation of SACS qualification using specific documents:

  • Adjunct Hiring Paperwork Checklist (for HR processing)
  • Adjunct Faculty Application Evaluation
  • Faculty Credential Certification Form
  • Annotated transcript indicating SACS qualifications (qualifications table here)
    • Typically minimum qualifications require a master’s in the teaching field or a master’s and 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field.

To add teaching fields for a current professor, submit these documents to the dean’s office.

Note that departments vary in their procedures for incorporating faculty with additional teaching fields. For instance, a department may treat a FT professor from a different department as adjunct for purposes of eStaffing. Similarly with other statuses, like MSTA or HPTH. Consult the department chair of your secondary teaching field for additional information.
